Membership with the International Professional Sleep Consultants Association
Code of Ethics Service Professional Sleep Consultants work with adults, teenagers, pregnant women, families, children, and infants to develop healthy sleep habits that are developmentally and age appropriate. Additionally, they provide support, information, education and resources based on client needs.
Practice Boundaries
Professional Sleep Consultants do not diagnose, treat, examine, or medically advise their clients nor do they seek to replace the advice of a doctor or family’s pediatrician.
Every APSC member respects and adheres to the following Code of Ethics:
Upholds professional standards of best practice in the sleep consulting industry Maintains practice boundaries as defined in their role as non-medical Professional Sleep Consultants Is objective and promotes informed decision-making Demonstrates respect for clients in the way they discuss their unique needs and challenges Protects client privacy through confidentiality Is respectful, collaborative, and supportive of fellow APSC members and professional colleagues Assumes full responsibility and accountability for their professional judgments and actions Practices ethically and with professional integrity in accordance with industry standards of best practices Pursues continuing education and keeps current on industry standards of best practices. Members who choose not to follow this Code of Ethics will lose APSC membership indefinitely.
