Holiday Nanny live in or live out?
Have you ever hired a holiday Nanny?
As I have children including toddlers and after our last disasterous holiday that wasn't a holiday, I don't think I could do it again without some help. I mean having a once a year week long break with some hubby time combined with family time just isn't possible without an extra pair of hands.
We are staying in a sleepy seaside town and recruiting professional Nannies has been a bit of a nightmare. Babysitting Agencies there charge a referral fee but don't offer standard background checks. This is very strange to me. What am I paying for if the Agency is not background checking? Simply referral by the sounds of it.
Thankfully, being qualified and trained in Early childhood development through Centre based care and work as a Nanny and then prior to Night Nannies in Public service in Community services I have an excellent understanding of what to look for in professionalism of staff and Agencies when looking for a kind and experienced professional to care for my children.
It just shocks me that there are businesses operating like this. In the end I have decided to go with one of my own Night Nannies who I know and trust and can feel 100% confident about their background checks and instead of hiring locally I have had to recruit from my own city based team and offer live in accommodation instead. Id rather do that than compromise on the quality of care my little ones will receive.
